Why am I required to register/login?

The eFlea auction system implements authentication for access to certain features. Viewing the auction does not require an account.

Registering an account and logging in gives you added functionality such as:

  • The ability to place bids on auction items
  • The ability to check the status of the items you are bidding on.
  • No need to wait on emails arriving to notify you that you have been outbid by another user. You can simply check the status of all the items you are bidding on.
  • After the auction closes (and the auction does not continue at a live event), you can see which items you have won.

Once you have registered for one auction on the system, your account can be used for any current or future auctions that are run on the eFlea system. There is no need to register a new account for each auction.

I registered, but I haven't received my confirmation email to activate my account!

This issue crops up once and a while due to slow internet email servers or spam filtering software. If you did not receive your confirmation email within 30 minutes of registering, you can request to send the activation code again. Follow the "Didn't Receive Your Activation Code?" link in the login area, or the link provided at the bottom of the registration screen. You may have to add [email protected] or the domain @eflea.ca to your safe senders list.

Ensure that you entered your email address correctly. If the resend activation code form returns and error stating the email address is not registered, you may have entered an invalid email address initially, or your activation has expired and your account deactivated. Please re-register.

Accounts that have not been activated within 7 days will automatically be deleted from the system. If you have not activated your account within this time frame, you may need to re-register your account.

Note: If you use a mail forwarding system (i.e. alumni email address, forwarding from one email address to another address), you may experience delivery problems. We strongly suggest using an email address that does not forward to another email service.
I made a mistake when entering my name, phone number or address when I registered. Can I change it?

Yes. In the "My Account" section, you will find a form for changing your contact information.

You can also add additional contact information such as an alternate phone number.

Can I change my password after I have registered?

Yes. In the "My Account" section, you will find a form for changing your password.

What if I forget my password?

If you have forgotten your password, you can request to change your password by clicking the "Forgot Password?" link in the login section of the auction. Follow the instructions, and fill in the required fields to initiate the password reset process.

Can I have more than one email linked to my account?

Yes you can, however, the feature for adding "alternate" email addresses is not fully functional yet. We are hoping to have this feature working soon. If you would like to link an additional email address to your account please email eFlea Support.

Can anyone host an auction for charity or a fundraiser?

Yes, we offer our services in Canada, the United States, Great Britain, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, to any worthy cause of a not-for-personal-profit nature! If you are interested in holding an on-line fund-raising auction using the eFlea system, you can find out how to do so in the How It Works section.

I am using Internet Explorer 6 or 7 And eFlea Sucks!

Oh Myyyy! IE 6 & 7 are really, really, really (did we say really?) old browsers.

eFlea Is designed for modern web browsers. We do not support Internet Explorer versions less than version 8.

Try using a modern browser such as Chrome, FireFox, Safari or Internet Explorer 10 and above. If you are stuck using an older web browser, we feel your pain, but unfortunately we are unable to assist you.

If eFlea's service is free, how do you make money?

We get this question a lot. Simple answer: We don't make money!

Longer answer: We do make a small amount of revenue via the display of advertisements on the auction's site (no more than 3 ads per page). This helps us offset operational costs associated with hosting, data storage, security and other recurring operational costs. We don't plan on getting rich by offering this service.

We believe that all money raised by your auction should go to your charity/group, especially for smaller groups with limited resources. We love Free!

If eFlea doesn't make money, why do you offer this service?

Ask yourself this question: "Why do I fund raise for charity?"

We, just like you, like to help out great causes! Some people go door to door canvassing for charities. Some people participate in charity events (i.e. runs, walks, dragon boat races, etc), and others attend charity fund raiser events/socials. In our case, we offer a free service to let us help people just like you!

Does eFlea offer a Paid Service?

Currently we do not offer a paid service. In the future, we may offer some advanced features that might require a one-time fee or subscription fee. However all current features will still be available with our regular service offering.

Does eFlea have a Privacy Policy?

Are cookies used on eFlea's websites?

Cookies are necessary in order for our site(s) to operate. Cookies are needed to maintain your login session, and maintain some of your preferences. I no longer want an eFlea account, can I have my account removed?

This depends on if you have placed a bid at an auction, and/or are an administrator of an auction, and/or how long your account has been inactive.

If you have not placed any bids using your account, and your account is not linked as an auction administrator, we can remove your account for you. Please contact eFlea Support from the email address you registered with requesting that your account be deactivated.

If you have participated in any auction by placing at least one bid, your account cannot be removed from the system, even if you were not a winning bidder at the time the auction closes. It may still be possible that you will become a winner of an item if the high bidder cannot be contacted by the auction administrator(s). Accounts that have been idle for more than 12 months (i.e. no login activity on any eFlea auctions or related sites) may be deactivated by the system.

If your account is linked to an auction as an administrator, your account cannot be removed unless there is another administrator linked to your auction.

What does eFlea do with my personal information after my account is closed?

eFlea keeps personal information in accordance with our privacy policy. This is necessary to comply with laws, prevent fraud, collect any fees owed, resolve problems, troubleshoot problems, assist with investigations, enforce our Terms of Service, and take other actions otherwise permitted by law.
